ABOUT XPUR 

Supercritical CO₂ extraction has been the industry standard for cleaning cork granules since the early 2000s, but the method has notable drawbacks: it has a significant carbon footprint and destroys cork’s natural elastic properties. To compensate for this lost flexibility, manufacturers often add plastic microspheres during agglomeration, ensuring the corks remain pliable over time. 
 
The Xpür® process represents a more advanced and sustainable evolution of supercritical CO₂ extraction. Using 75% less energy and generating 90% fewer CO₂ emissions, Xpür® maintains the cork’s natural elasticity, eliminating the need for plastic microspheres. Corks made with this method preserve their long‑term integrity naturally and deliver low, consistent oxygen transfer rates comparable to premium micro‑agglomerated options.
